Www.freecycle.org This site is a search engine that enables you to this city and the type of item you want. I have found in Seattle, WA, and lay people, for example, and no one came that two garbage bags full of mega blocks free to anyone willing to pick them up there.

You should try some of Yahoo Groups. OHIO you have a group called "Freecycle", where the things they are giving away. You should try and see if there is a group in your area.
Come to my house and they get the plant with about 6 boxes that are emptied and toys that come fille em!
